Assign Learning Paths to User Groups

How to assign content to User Groups using the Learning Navigator.

This article is for Team Admins.

Quick Tips on Assigning Learning Paths:

  • To assign content to user groups, it must be done from the Targeting Tab which is easiest to find on the Learning Navigator.
  • The Learning Navigator is a convenient place for team admins to view all learning content assigned to your training organization and assign content to multiple uses at once.
  • The benefit of assigning a User Group to a mandatory Learning Path is that any future users added to the user group will automatically be assigned this training.

Learning Paths are the most efficient way to assign a series of courses to a learner. One enrollment in a learning path enrolls a learner in all the required courses within it at once. As a team admin, you will typically use learning paths to assign content. You can also control the order of the courses and use additional features such as Triggers to customize them.

How to assign Content to User Groups:

  1. Access the Learning Navigator by clicking on Learning Navigator from the Administrator Menu, or hover over Admin menu and click on Learning Navigator.
  2.  Explore the Content in the Learning Navigator.
    • Your organization will typically have a folder for Central Course Library and Custom Courses. However, to view all content created within your organization, click on your organization's parent folder.
    • From here, you can use tabs to explore different types of content including Learning Paths, Self-Paced, Operational Assessments, Job Roles, and Question Banks.
  3. Click on the Learning Paths tab and find the desired learning path
  4. Set the Targeting to identify the type of enrollment. Click on the Targeting tab to see the different Enrollment options.
    • Mandatory Enrollment: Learners are directly enrolled in the learning path and cannot unenroll. The learning path will appear on their Home screen and require completion. You will usually set targeting as Mandatory when assigning content.
    • Self Enrollment: Learners can enroll in the learning path from the catalog, with the flexibility to unenroll at any time.
    • Authorized Enrollment: Learners request course enrollment, and an approver will either approve, decline, or request additional information.
    • Purchasable: The Learner must purchase the course to enroll.
  5. Add Users. Now that the targeting is set for the learning path, you can add individual users, the whole organization, or user groups.
  6. To add a user group to the mandatory enrollment requirement, click on Add User Group.
    • The benefit of adding a user group to the learning path is that any future users added to the user group will automatically be assigned this training.
  7. Click on the Search icon to search for a specific User Group to add and select them. Once you have selected the User Groups, close the Search window.
  8. Review the User Groups you added and click Save.
    • To see all of the enrollments, click on the Enrollments tab. You can see the number of enrollments here. Review your Enrollments.
    • To view details of each user enrolled, click on Search. A list of all users enrolled in the learning path will appear, showing their current status within the learning path.
